YOU are among the curious visitors of this website, www.alice-in-the-field.org! It was launched on October 4th, 2007, one day after the German Re-unification anniversary, which marks the beginning ASH-Alumni in all parts of the world to also start re-unifying.
The website is one project of 'Alice in the field' (AIF)....the newly established Alumni network of the Alice Salomon University of Applied Sciences (ASH) in Berlin! AIF facilitates networking among students, alumni and lecturers in order to "set out to make the world a better place to live in." (Alice Salomon, founder of the ASFH) Alice Salomon was a pioneer of social work. Her lifelong career set benchmarks far beyond geographical borders. It is her legacy that encouraged us to launch the AIF alumni initiative.
AIF`s main objective is to provide a platform where ASH Alumni are welcome to meet interesting people who are willing to share information and knowledge. AIF has been designed to bring persons together from a variety of backgrounds and cultures with the goal of facilitating networking opportunities and enhancing ongoing career development. We encourage you to take this opportunity to share with us any upcoming conferences or events concerning Alumni interests.
The idea to create AIF was born some time ago. In January 2007 we submitted a grant proposal to the German Academic Exchange Service 'DAAD' - and we were successful. Until the end of 2008, DAAD funding supports ASH in its efforts to foster the links between you and itself for mutual benefit. The 1st Alumni Meeting in November 2007 constituted the kick off for AIF. In 2008, an expert seminar was held as the ASH celebrated its 100th birthday. In the long run, it is envisaged that future activities are being initiated by you, either as individual or as a group. Our job is to assist you in these endeavors in different ways. Many of you have ideas which are worthwhile to be elaborated further and your input and networks are appreciated. You are the pioneers and the sucess of AIF depends on you!
Many of you who have already surfed through the fields of this website since its launching have noticed it is filled with portraits and photos. Our thanks to all who provided constructive feedback. We would like to invite all for more feedback on how to make this website a pleasant experience from color selections, to photos and graphics, to content. We even invite you to assist us in personalizing our website by sending us your views, photos, proverbs, etc.
We hope you enjoy and get inspired by surfing through field!
