The Project began on the east coast of Sri Lanka, following the 2004 tsunami.
What we have in common is time that we all spent at the ASH or at a partner university to study, teach or research. So far we have had three opportunities to reunite with old friends, and meet new ones. It was much fun, and provoked interest in some kinds of mutual project ideas. As an outcome of the 2008 expert seminar, we aim to create personalised space for Alumni who want to present their projects. If you are interested to present your project, too, get in touch with us via the contact form.
We are happy to present you the new initiative of Alice In the Field (AIF). This is a comprehensive initiative to support and to promote you as Alumni in your professional career.
Our vision can be divided in to two fields of action that complete each other:
1. Continuing education and training events
2. Networking of Alumni
1. Continuing education and training events:
Lifelong learning is a key layer for alumni to get updated, developed and becoming more professional in their fields. As it has been successfully organized before by AIF, more expert seminars, conferences and/or summer or winter schools are in plan. Those activities may take place in Germany or abroad. Professional continuing education and training will be aimed to fulfill the needs of the Alumni and to adopt current relevant subjects from specializations in particular fields, such as conflict management, human rights, environment, mediation, development, social work and more.
The idea is to establish a mutual relationship between the alumni and their higher education institutions, as participants are expected to contribute from their own life and professional experience, while receiving new professional knowledge from other experts.
2. Networking of Alumni:
We believe that good maintained networking is an essential aspect of supporting the alumni; databases of offers and demands for jobs and internships, for example, can be developed, as well as for sharing and maintaining internet presentations, developing and distributing information materials, and initiating the founding of alumni associations in different places.
In order to achieve this goal we intend to establish three different levels of networks ? regional, international and transnational. Those subject-oriented networks shall be in all three levels an important tool for all alumni for interdependent communication and promotion.
Those subject related networks shall not only serve the professional further education and training of the alumni, but will also help to get a better acquaintance with the grass root level of the relevant fields, in order to be familiar with all needs and current developments of the field.
